Whilst there can be a difference in approach and speciality, the consistent mark of best practice is by putting the individual patient first. At the BCA, we have created a dedicated Patient Charter for our members. This is a pledge from our members, to their patients, to remind them of the quality care they’ll receive. Created by the BCA to provide patients with reassurance, the Patient Charter acts as a transparent agreement and ensures that patient-centred, evidence-informed care is always provided. We are proud of our democratically run association. Cait Allen Chief Executive Officer Cait has an extensive career history working with organisations across healthcare and the third sector, including NHS England and NHS Trusts. Experienced in influencing policy, Cait drives the BCA’s mission to support with the strain of musculoskeletal (MSK) issues facing the UK, whilst equipping members with the tools to increase recognition within the mainstream healthcare community. Lisa King Director of Communications and Marketing Lisa has extensive experience in branding, communications and marketing across various organisations, including the NHS. Bringing a unique blend of expertise within marketing and corporate communications, Lisa has transformed the BCA’s external presence and improved our share of voice through PR and Public Affairs. Anne Barlow Director of Membership and Operations Anne brings flexibility and a depth of knowledge to the BCA. Starting her career as a Registered Nurse, Anne has been with the BCA since 2003, transforming systems and processes to benefit our members, positioning the organisation as the premium choice for British chiropractors. Sofie Bennet Director of Development Sofie started her career in hospitality and events, before moving to the charity sector where she held a range of leadership roles for healthcare, maritime and science causes. She has over 15 years’ experience delivering global partnerships and events across Europe and Asia. Katrin Mahfuz Communications and Marketing Manager Katrin looks after how we interact with our members, key stakeholders and the general public. Since graduating in 2019, she has gained valuable experience in marketing, events, communications and customer services. Most recently, she has been leading a three-year digital transformation project for the BCA, designed to enhance the association’s digital presence. Brianna Ryder-Maki Partnerships and Events Executive Brianna has diverse experience working across events, which has exposed her to several different stakeholders including A-list celebrities, royals, military personnel, and public safety officials. Brianna will support with growing and developing the BCA partnership and events offerings for our 100-year anniversary, and beyond. Claire Cooke Membership Executive Claire has spent the majority of her career working in the membership sector, across a wide range of areas including marketing, member acquisition and retention, support and guidance, volunteer management, school liaison, and more. Claire works with Anne Barlow, Director of Membership & Operations, to provide support to members in all aspects of their professional lives. Aleisha Collins Communications and Content Executive With a background in science communications and digital content, Aleisha brings a strategic and insight-driven approach to content creation and engagement. Passionate about clear, inclusive communication, she focuses on creating original content for varied audiences - from academic and scientific communities to the general public - while maintaining clarity, creativity, and purpose. Since joining the BCA in 2024, Aleisha has worked to strengthen the organisation’s social media presence and member engagement. Tim Button President A passionate advocate for chiropractic and, alongside his Presidential duties, Tim has served as the official chiropractor for Bristol Rovers and Bath Rugby. He’s also worked at major events like the London 2012 Olympics and the Commonwealth Games. Faye Deane Vice President Faye graduated from WIOC in 2007. She has 16 years of experience, including roles with Leeds United and Sheffield United. Since 2024, she has been the Course Leader of the MSci Chiropractic Programme at Teesside University. Faye also serves on several chiropractic committees. John Williamson Treasurer John has been practising since 2005, graduating from the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic. He and his wife run a multidisciplinary clinic in Bicester. John specialises in sport and rehabilitation, working with top athletes, and serves as Treasurer for the BCA. He also lectures internationally. Jessica Davy BCA Board member Jessica graduated from the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic in 2017 and was awarded her Postgraduate Certificate in Chiropractic Professional Development from AECC University College in 2018. She works in clinical practice as an associate in Gloucestershire where she enjoys mentoring graduate chiropractors. Alister du Rose BCA Board member Dr Alister du Rose graduated from the Health Sciences University (AECC School of Chiropractic) in 2009. After several years in clinical practice, he returned to the university in 2012 to undertake his PhD in spinal biomechanics, which he successfully completed in 2016. Upon completing his studies, Alister worked as a Senior Lecturer and Course Leader for the Master of Chiropractic course at the University of South Wales, before returning to his roots at Health Sciences University in January 2020. Ben Grant BCA Board member Born in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, Ben's lifelong enthusiasm for sport and physical activity led to a deep interest in health and wellness. This passion guided him toward chiropractic, graduating from the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic in 2007. He quickly progressed to become Principal Chiropractor and Managing Director of his local multi-disciplinary clinic. He now balances clinical practice with his role as a Clinical Tutor at Teesside University and as an elected Board Member of the British Chiropractic Association. Juliet Lock BCA Board member Juliet has over 20 years of experience in general practice and elite sport. She has worked at the Olympics, Paralympics, and Commonwealth Games. Juliet runs a multidisciplinary clinic in Oxfordshire and is Head of Medical for London Scottish. She also practises veterinary chiropractic. Philippa Oakley BCA Board member Philippa Oakley (she/her) graduated from WIOC in 2012 and has over a decade of private practice experience. She runs a clinic in Wiltshire and co-directs Oakley Partnership, focusing on LGBTQ+ inclusive healthcare. Philippa received the BCA’s “Chiropractor of the Year” award for 2022-2023. Our global and local connections World Federation of Chiropractic(WFC) The BCA was a founding member of the European Chiropractors Union (ECU) and the World Federation of Chiropractic (WFC). The WFC was established in 1988 and represents national associations of chiropractors from over 90 countries in 7 world regions and is a non-state actor in official relations with the World Health Organization (WHO). Visit the WFC website Community Rehabilitation Alliance (CRA) The Community Rehabilitation Alliance (CRA) was founded in December 2019 to campaign for better community rehabilitation services. It is a coalition of over 50 charities and professional bodies dedicated to improving the commissioning, planning, and delivery of rehabilitation services across health and social care. The alliance aims to enhance access to high-quality, person-centred rehabilitation, ensuring that services are well-integrated and meet the needs of individuals in their communities. Visit the CRA website Arthritis and Musculoskeletal Alliance(ARMA) The Arthritis and Musculoskeletal Alliance (ARMA) is a UK umbrella association bringing together support groups, professional bodies and research organisations in the field of arthritis and other musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions. It is also a part of the National Action Network for the Bone & Joint Decade (BJD) – an international multidisciplinary initiative to improve the health-related quality of life for people with MSK conditions.The British Chiropractic Association shares the BJD’s objectives to raise understanding, awareness and cooperation in tackling the problems of musculoskeletal conditions, including back pain.
