It helps to reduce stress, improve focus, increase self-awareness and cultivate inner peace. The long term goal is to give you the tools to live a more balanced, fulfilled life. Our Mindfulness courses are run by Sara Warden, a Trauma Informed Sound and Breath Facilitator and are perfect for those feeling stressed, anxious or overwhelmed in their daily lives. Sara creates a space for you to nourish your heart, feel safety in your body and be grounded in your mind. Our courses are suitable for both beginners with absolutely no experience and those who may have attended similar courses before. Details of our current courses are shown below. It helps to reduce stress, improve focus, and increase self-awareness. What should I expect during a class? 55 minutes of guided relaxation. Simple breathing exercises to calm your mind and body. Gentle meditations to help you stay present and reduce stress. A safe and supportive space to cultivate your mindfulness practice. Together, we'll work to reduce overwhelm, stress, and anxiety. I haven’t done meditation before, can I still join? Yes absolutely, it is a beginners class. I haven’t had any experience of mindfulness, before can I join? Absolutely! You don't need any prior experience with meditation to join our class. Mindfulness is a beginner-friendly practice that's accessible to everyone. We'll guide you through simple techniques and create a supportive environment for you to explore this valuable skill. Is this 6 week course for me? Whether this class is right for you depends on your individual needs and goals. If you're looking to: Reduce stress and anxiety Improve focus and concentration Increase self-awareness Cultivate a sense of calm and peace and Make a commitment to your well-being This six week course can be a valuable tool in your back pocket What age is the course suitable for? This course is suitable for anyone over the age of 18. What happens if I miss a class? If you miss an in-person class, unfortunately, you won't be able to attend that specific session. However, as a benefit of our online classes, you'll receive a recording of each session within 24 hours. This way, you can still access the content and continue your mindfulness journey at your own pace. What do I need to bring and wear to the first two classes? For your first two mindfulness classes, you'll want to bring: Comfortable clothing: Choose clothes that allow you to move freely and feel relaxed. A yoga mat or blanket: This will provide a comfortable surface for your meditation practice. A journal or notebook: To jot down any thoughts or insights that arise during the sessions. For added comfort during your meditation practice, consider bringing pillows for under your head and knees. These can help support your body and reduce discomfort, allowing you to focus more fully on your mindfulness practice. Remember, the goal is to create a comfortable and supportive environment. If you find that you don't need the pillows, that's perfectly fine as well. Why is this a 6 week course? While a single session can provide a taste of mindfulness, the true benefits often come from consistent practice. Think of it like building muscle strength – it takes time and regular effort. A course offers a structured approach to help you develop a regular mindfulness habit and explore various techniques. What is Breathwork? Breathwork is a technique that involves focusing on and controlling your breathing patterns. It can be used to reduce stress, improve relaxation, and enhance overall well-being. Is there parking on site? Yes please park at the clinic in the spaces next to the building. What will I need for the four online classes? Our online classes take place over Zoom, so you will need to download this onto a laptop or smartphone before the first online class. We also recommend earphones and, if possible, a quiet space where you will not be disturbed as this will allow you to get the most benefit from the online classes. Additionally, if you would like to take advantage of the accompanying Voxer group, which will give you access to a mini additional breathwork or meditation each week as well as coaching and an opportunity to ask any questions you have relating to the course, you will need to download the Voxer app to your smartphone. *The terms and conditions below relate to our 6 Week Control the Noise: Mindfulness Meditation Course starting 12th September 2024 . The deposit is non refundable and the remaining balance is due on Thursday 5th September. When paying the deposit, you are agreeing to the terms as listed here. It helps to reduce stress, improve focus, increase self-awareness and cultivate inner peace. The long term goal is to give you the tools to live a more balanced, fulfilled life. Our Mindfulness courses are run by Sara Warden, a Trauma Informed Sound and Breath Facilitator and are perfect for those feeling stressed, anxious or overwhelmed in their daily lives. Sara creates a space for you to nourish your heart, feel safety in your body and be grounded in your mind. Our courses are suitable for both beginners with absolutely no experience and those who may have attended similar courses before. Details of our current courses are shown below. It helps to reduce stress, improve focus, and increase self-awareness. What should I expect during a class? 55 minutes of guided relaxation. Simple breathing exercises to calm your mind and body. Gentle meditations to help you stay present and reduce stress. A safe and supportive space to cultivate your mindfulness practice. Together, we'll work to reduce overwhelm, stress, and anxiety. I haven’t done meditation before, can I still join? Yes absolutely, it is a beginners class. I haven’t had any experience of mindfulness, before can I join? Absolutely! You don't need any prior experience with meditation to join our class. Mindfulness is a beginner-friendly practice that's accessible to everyone. We'll guide you through simple techniques and create a supportive environment for you to explore this valuable skill. Is this 6 week course for me? Whether this class is right for you depends on your individual needs and goals. If you're looking to: Reduce stress and anxiety Improve focus and concentration Increase self-awareness Cultivate a sense of calm and peace and Make a commitment to your well-being This six week course can be a valuable tool in your back pocket What age is the course suitable for? This course is suitable for anyone over the age of 18. What happens if I miss a class? If you miss an in-person class, unfortunately, you won't be able to attend that specific session. However, as a benefit of our online classes, you'll receive a recording of each session within 24 hours. This way, you can still access the content and continue your mindfulness journey at your own pace. What do I need to bring and wear to the first two classes? For your first two mindfulness classes, you'll want to bring: Comfortable clothing: Choose clothes that allow you to move freely and feel relaxed. A yoga mat or blanket: This will provide a comfortable surface for your meditation practice. A journal or notebook: To jot down any thoughts or insights that arise during the sessions. For added comfort during your meditation practice, consider bringing pillows for under your head and knees. These can help support your body and reduce discomfort, allowing you to focus more fully on your mindfulness practice. Remember, the goal is to create a comfortable and supportive environment. If you find that you don't need the pillows, that's perfectly fine as well. Why is this a 6 week course? While a single session can provide a taste of mindfulness, the true benefits often come from consistent practice. Think of it like building muscle strength – it takes time and regular effort. A course offers a structured approach to help you develop a regular mindfulness habit and explore various techniques. What is Breathwork? Breathwork is a technique that involves focusing on and controlling your breathing patterns. It can be used to reduce stress, improve relaxation, and enhance overall well-being. Is there parking on site? Yes please park at the clinic in the spaces next to the building. What will I need for the four online classes? Our online classes take place over Zoom, so you will need to download this onto a laptop or smartphone before the first online class. We also recommend earphones and, if possible, a quiet space where you will not be disturbed as this will allow you to get the most benefit from the online classes. Additionally, if you would like to take advantage of the accompanying Voxer group, which will give you access to a mini additional breathwork or meditation each week as well as coaching and an opportunity to ask any questions you have relating to the course, you will need to download the Voxer app to your smartphone. *The terms and conditions below relate to our 6 Week Control the Noise: Mindfulness Meditation Course starting 12th September 2024 . These exercises can be tailored to suit beginners and athletes alike either helping to improve stability in day to day tasks or improve athletic performance. Melissa Kemp - Pilates Instructor During her childhood Melissa’s interest was gymnastics, which led to a life-long interest in aerobics, tap dancing and 'all things' relating to Physiology and Anatomy. Melissa decided to qualify as fitness instructor in 2005 and went to Reading college for a year to study the OCR (Oxford and Cambridge) LEVEL 2 RSA examinations in Teaching Exercise and Fitness, and Physiology and Anatomy. Following this she began attending Pilates classes. As Pilates became more and more popular she decided to enrol on a course with the BSY Group (British School of Yoga), which she passed with distinction. Melissa also enjoys taking courses and gaining qualifications in other areas such as Foam Roller and Massage. After working as a Radiographer in the NHS for a number of years Dorian has spent a lot of his career involved with training clinics and professional sports teams in the UK and overseas in the use of Electrotherapy devices such as Lasers, Shockwave and Tecartherapy. Dorian incorporates electrotherapy in many of his treatment sessions and in addition to working at Camberley Chiropractic Clinic he also works as a clinic trainer for Winback Tecartherapy as well as a soft-tissue rehab therapist for Bromley FC in League 2 currently. Outside of work Dorian is always busy with his 4 boys & 2 dogs, but also a keen amateur runner having recently been awarded his Abbott World Marathon Majors 6 Star medal and is particularly interested in running injuries. Jess Grant - Sports Masseuse Jess recently completed her degree in Sports Therapy at Bournemouth University, where she gained a vast amount of hands-on experience. Her practical training included working a full season with Somerset County Cricket Club, and often treating athletes at Bournemouth University on Wednesdays and Saturdays. James Everett - Chiropractor & Clinic Owner James Everett (Doctor of Chiropractic) was born in Surrey and graduated from the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic in Bournemouth with a Masters degree in Chiropractic. It was James' rugby injury, and subsequent experience with Chiropractic Care, that provided the catalyst for him to pursue a career as a Doctor of Chiropractic. James became the owner of Camberley Chiropractic Clinic in 2015, having been an associate since 2009. Alongside his work within the clinic he is the first team Chiropractor at Oxford United Football Club; previously he also held this position at QPR, Millwall and AFC Wimbledon. Outside of football, James has treated the GB athletes at Masters Athletics Competitions both in the UK and in Europe. James is an internationally Certified Chiropractic Sports Practitioner, and a member of the Royal College of Chiropractors Sports and Exercise Faculty and has a Masters in sports and rehabilitation. This led him to take courses in sports massage, manipulative therapy and dry needling. The full price treatment is stated on the Price List on the Reception Desk and above. Shock Wave Therapy Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT) is the application of Shock Waves in medicine. It is clinically proven that pressure waves, when applied to injured tissues, stimulate metabolic reactions: Reduction of pain felt by nerve fibers Increase of blood circulation in surrounding soft tissues Beginning of healing process triggered by stem cells activation Red chili peppers contain capsaicin. At first this substance overwhelms the C nerve fibers responsible for transmitting pain but then disables them for an extended period of time. Everybody knows the feeling – first, the mouth is on fire, then it feels completely numb. Research has indicated that shock wave therapy works the same way. When activated, the C nerve fibers release a specific substance (substance P) in the tissue as well as in the spinal cord. This substance is responsible for causing slight discomfort during and after shock wave treatment. However, with prolonged activation, C nerve fibers become incapable for some time of releasing substance P and causing pain. Less substance P in the tissue leads to reduced pain, but there is more: less substance P also causes so-called neurogenic inflammation to decline. A decline in neurogenic inflammation may in turn foster healing – together with the release of growth factors and the activation of stem cells in the treated tissue. Rock Taping Unlike traditional athletic tape that binds and doesn’t stretch, RockTape is engineered to mimic the human skin. This stretchiness is the secret behind RockTape. RockTape stretches up to 180% of its original length but has amazing ‘snap-back’ or recovery. This is what gives RockTape its performance advantage over other tapes. RockTape can be used in a variety of ways to achieve different benefits: When RockTape is applied with little or no stretch on the tape but lots of stretch on the tissue it causes the skin to form convolutions and wrinkle. This creates a bio-mechanical lifting mechanism that decompresses the tissue just under the skin. It is believed that this decompression and having tape on our skin creates 3 main effects: Fluid Effect: By causing decompression the tape promotes a more normal fluid dynamic in the taped area. Swelling is better able to flow out of the area, taking with it toxins which result from inflammation and injury. Also blood has less resistance to enter the area bringing with it more oxygen and nutrients vital for healing and recovery. This fluid effect is probably behind the dramatic improvement in swollen and bruised tissue that is often seen when Rocktape is applied. Mechanical Effect: As pressure on the vertical layer cake of tissue between skin and bone is reduced more normal slide and glide mechanics between the layers of tissue is restored. It is likely that this is the mechanism that can make someone who can only bend as far as their knees, bend considerably more in a short space of time. Neurological Effect: A lot of pain generated by movement or muscle contraction is generated by nerve endings in the space between the skin and muscle. As tape decompresses this space there is less pressure on these nerve endings so is reduced or stopped completely at its source. Having elastic tape stuck to your skin is also believed to stimulate receptors within the skin called Mechanoreceptors. These receptors play a part in our movement awareness, or what therapists call Proprioception. Many therapists believe that one of the main effects of applying RockTape is to improve our Proprioception, which can both decrease pain and improve the way we move. It is clinically proven that pressure waves, when applied to injured tissues, stimulate metabolic reactions: Reduction of pain felt by nerve fibers Increase of blood circulation in surrounding soft tissues Beginning of healing process triggered by stem cells activation Red chili peppers contain capsaicin. At first this substance overwhelms the C nerve fibers responsible for transmitting pain but then disables them for an extended period of time. Everybody knows the feeling – first, the mouth is on fire, then it feels completely numb. Research has indicated that shock wave therapy works the same way. When activated, the C nerve fibers release a specific substance (substance P) in the tissue as well as in the spinal cord. This substance is responsible for causing slight discomfort during and after shock wave treatment. However, with prolonged activation, C nerve fibers become incapable for some time of releasing substance P and causing pain. Less substance P in the tissue leads to reduced pain, but there is more: less substance P also causes so-called neurogenic inflammation to decline. A decline in neurogenic inflammation may in turn foster healing – together with the release of growth factors and the activation of stem cells in the treated tissue. Rock Taping Unlike traditional athletic tape that binds and doesn’t stretch, RockTape is engineered to mimic the human skin. This stretchiness is the secret behind RockTape. RockTape stretches up to 180% of its original length but has amazing ‘snap-back’ or recovery. This is what gives RockTape its performance advantage over other tapes. RockTape can be used in a variety of ways to achieve different benefits: When RockTape is applied with little or no stretch on the tape but lots of stretch on the tissue it causes the skin to form convolutions and wrinkle. This creates a bio-mechanical lifting mechanism that decompresses the tissue just under the skin. It is believed that this decompression and having tape on our skin creates 3 main effects: Fluid Effect: By causing decompression the tape promotes a more normal fluid dynamic in the taped area. Swelling is better able to flow out of the area, taking with it toxins which result from inflammation and injury. Also blood has less resistance to enter the area bringing with it more oxygen and nutrients vital for healing and recovery. This fluid effect is probably behind the dramatic improvement in swollen and bruised tissue that is often seen when Rocktape is applied. Mechanical Effect: As pressure on the vertical layer cake of tissue between skin and bone is reduced more normal slide and glide mechanics between the layers of tissue is restored. It is likely that this is the mechanism that can make someone who can only bend as far as their knees, bend considerably more in a short space of time. Neurological Effect: A lot of pain generated by movement or muscle contraction is generated by nerve endings in the space between the skin and muscle. As tape decompresses this space there is less pressure on these nerve endings so is reduced or stopped completely at its source. Having elastic tape stuck to your skin is also believed to stimulate receptors within the skin called Mechanoreceptors. These receptors play a part in our movement awareness, or what therapists call Proprioception. Many therapists believe that one of the main effects of applying RockTape is to improve our Proprioception, which can both decrease pain and improve the way we move. The clinic has undergone a number of changes over the past few years. The aim being to help patients not only get out of pain but improve their overall health. Ultimately, our goal is to empower patients to fully understand the problem(s) they have in their body. With this knowledge, they can then utilise the additional services we offer at the clinic to minimise the risk of future injury, increase sports performance and improve their health. The clinic utilises some of the latest technology to enhance our diagnostic accuracy and improve patient care. These include a Gait Scanner to assess foot function issues that might be affecting a low back problem and Class IV Laser Therapy to aid the healing of acute injuries. Our Chiropractors are covered by all major healthcare providers. We advise you contact your insurer before making an appointment. We claim directly from AXA PPP and Bupa. If you have any queries, please contact our Reception team - reception@camberleychiropractic.co.uk. Confirmation Service We provide a text or email reminder service on the day before your appointment or class to confirm your appointment time. Please note that we provide this as a reminder service only - should we not be able to speak with you, it is your responsibility to attend your appointment or class at the time agreed when it was originally booked. Should you wish to change your appointment or class, please inform us within 24 hours of your appointment or class otherwise a charge of the full treatment or class fee will be made to you. Should you miss your appointment or class, a charge of the full treatment fee shall be made to you. We do not wish to levy a charge to you, so please do all you can to ensure we don’t. We want you to spend your money on treatment! If your treatment is covered by health care insurance (i.e. AXA PPP, BUPA), you would be responsible for the cancellation charge as your insurance company does not pay for missed appointments. Claiming Through Insurance We are covered by all major health insurance companies and claim directly to Bupa and AXA PPP (excluding Simply Health) only providing the excess has been paid and we are given a prior authorisation code and membership number at the New Patient Consultation. We must receive this information before the start of treatment, otherwise we will need to take payment at time of treatment. For all other insurance companies, we are happy to email or print a copy of your receipt to send to your insurance company. Please check with your insurance company first if your Chiropractor or Therapists is recognised. It is the responsibility of the patient to do this.
