Clinic History Our award winning clinic was first established in 1971, making it one of the longest established clinics in the south east. The clinic was originally opened by Mr Ian Hutchinson, who played an integral part in the registration of Chiropractic and formation of the chiropractors Act in 1994. As a result of this the General Chiropractic Council was formed to regulate the profession and maintain the safety of patients by ensuring high standards of care. In 2005 Dr Dicken Read (Doctor of Chiropractic) joined the practice under the mentorship of Mr Hutchinson and later in 2007 took over the practice. Since then, the clinic has gained numerous awards relating to quality of patient care and under his guidance the clinic continues to treat patients with the highest level of care. Staff Meet the Team Dicken Read MChiro DC FRCC Doctor of Chiropractic Dicken attained his Masters degree from the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic (AECC) after completing a 5-year course and was awarded the title of Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.) following his registration year. He joined Chelmsford Chiropractic Clinic in 2005, and became clinic Director of the Chelmsford Chiropractic Clinic in 2007. Dicken is qualified in musculoskeletal ultrasound imaging and is registered on the public voluntary register of sonographers. He is qualified as an advanced proficiency rated Activator practitioner and has qualifications in dry-needling, manual manipulative techniques, taping, ultrasound therapy, myofascial tools and further techniques. He enjoys training new graduates and is a Royal College of Chiropractor PRTS trainer. Dicken is a full member of the British Chiropractic Association (BCA), awarded Fellow of the Royal College of Chiropractors (FRCC) for his continued post graduate education and mentorship and registered with the General Chiropractic Council (GCC). Caron Warner BSc (Hons) DC LRCC Doctor of Chiropractic Caron was inspired to become a chiropractor after her own chronic low back pain had been alleviated within two weeks of chiropractic care. She was so impressed by the results that she decided to become a chiropractor herself. Caron has been a member of the Chelmsford Chiropractic Clinic team since 2006 and really enjoys helping people so that they are no longer troubled by back pain. She is also interested in women’s health, work-related/postural complaints and sports injuries. She is an Advanced rated Activator Practitioner, which enables her to offer you the option of very specific low force adjusted technique or the manual manipulation you may have experienced previously. She also believes in introducing everyone to easy spinal exercises; her aim is not just to alleviate pain but to help prevent reoccurrence. Caron is a GCC registered Chiropractor and a Lincentiate of the Royal College of Chiropractors (LRCC). Emma Lutkin MChiro DC Doctor of Chiropractic Emma earned her Master of Chiropractic degree from the Anglo European College of Chiropractic, inspired by her own journey through sport and recovery. Having been a gymnast from a young age, she gained firsthand insight into the physical demands and occasional injuries that come with training. Chiropractic care not only supported her recovery but also sparked a fascination with the body’s innate ability to heal and adapt when given the right conditions. She went on to coach gymnastics, developing a strong foundation in movement, coordination, and injury prevention. During her studies, she completed a paediatric placement, strengthening her passion for supporting children’s health and development. James Stocker MChiro DC Doctor of Chiropractic James earned his Master of Chiropractic degree from the Anglo European College of Chiropractic. His journey into the profession was shaped by his background in athletics and football, where he experienced firsthand the impact of injuries. Chiropractic care not only helped him recover but also inspired a deep appreciation for the body’s ability to heal and adapt when given the right support. James is passionate about helping people understand the root of their pain and guiding them towards lasting improvements in movement, function, and overall wellbeing. In the clinic, he combines hands-on chiropractic techniques with tailored exercise and lifestyle advice to support each patient’s unique needs and goals. His focus is always on achieving lasting improvements, so patients can enjoy a more active and comfortable life. Sport continues to be an important part of James’ life. Away from the clinic, he enjoys playing football, training in the gym, and trying out new activities that keep him moving. Kate Watson Dip (Level 5) SRMT MSMA NLSSM Sports Massage therapist Kate qualified with a level 5 BTEC Diploma in Sports Massage & Remedial Soft Tissue Therapy from the North London School of Sports Massage and is a member of the Sports Massage Association. Having previously worked as a Beauty Therapist in both a salon and spa environment Kate saw the benefits regular massage had on clients. She then decided take existing massage skills to the highest level by attending the NLSSM to increase her knowledge base and techniques. She thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of her training. Kate enjoys helping people to feel better and strongly believes in the benefits of Remedial Soft Tissue Therapy, whether that be for pain management, improving mobility or helping to manage stress. Kate loves spending time with her young family, taking part in calisthenics classes and reading. Sonia Dip (Level 5) SRMT MSMA NLSSM Sports Massage therapist Sonia joined the Chelmsford Chiropractic Clinic team after qualifying at the North London School of Sports Massage in 2016 with level 5 Diploma. She has particular interest in pain relief and control of chronic suffers and continuously grows her knowledge base by attending regular seminars. Sonia is qualified in pregnancy and post pregnancy massage as well as gaining an oncology diploma to aid people who need pain relief the most. She combines the anatomical knowledge at higher level learning with holistic approach to keeping the body functional, which supports the work of the chiropractic team here in clinic. Kerry Spalding Dip (Level 5) SMRT MSMA NLSSM Sports Massage Therapist Kerry qualified with a level 5 BTEC Diploma in Sports Massage & Remedial Soft Tissue Therapy from the North London School of Sports Massage. Kerry was previously a Beauty Therapist and found that she enjoyed carrying out Deep Tissue massage so much she decided to take her skills to the highest level, leading to her attending the NLSSM and successfully obtaining a Level 5 in sports massage. Kerry believes in a holistic approach to massage, that benefits pain and mobility as well as symptoms such as stress and anxiety. Ian Billingham Dip (Level 5) SRMT MISRM Sports Massage Therapist Ian is an experienced BTEC Level 5-certified clinical sports and remedial massage therapist with diverse clients spanning professional world class athletes as well as everyday clientele. Ian has extensive experience working in a clinic setting and has also been a trainer to therapists and clinicians in the UK and Europe on specialised soft tissue techniques. He's an accomplished athlete having played junior tennis for Hong Kong and internationally across Asia and Europe, including a handful of professional events. Today, Ian’s athletic passion continues in tennis, golf and is also an avid cyclist and trains in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Ian is also attending university on a Masters degree program to become a chiropractor. Sarah Crosby Physiotherapist (Women's Health) BSc Hons Physiotherapy MCSP HCPC I have 19 years of experience as a Physiotherapist working both for the NHS and in private practice. My area of specialty is Pelvic Health and Women's Health. This covers conditions such as pregnancy related lower back pain, incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse to name a few. I treat patients of all ages. I also have practiced in the field of musculoskeletal and sports injuries, which has included treating professional athletes. Having undertaken specialist training in Women's Health physiotherapy, I set up a Women's Health service at a large physiotherapy clinic in South-East London in 2013. I am a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) and a member of the professional network; Pelvic, Obstetric and Gynaecological Physiotherapy (POGP) and a member of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Since having two children, I have become even more passionate about my role in making sure women know where to find the right help and advice for problems that are too often assumed to be "normal' after having a baby. She previously worked in London as a medical secretary at Guy's Hospital and then spent several years working as deputy supervisor in a local pre-school. Linda Chiropractic Assistant Linda joined the clinic in January 2012 as a receptionist, having been a patient here for a number of years. Her previous career had been secretarial in the banking industry and wanted a completely different change of environment. She loves working in such a calm atmosphere and mostly enjoys meeting all the different patients that visit the clinic. Linda is a keen dog walker and also enjoys cooking and entertaining. Sally Chiropractic Assistant Sally joined the clinic in May 2023. She previously worked in London as PA to the Chief Executive of a Lloyd’s Broker, and then took time at home to look after her four sons. She has really enjoyed her return to work, in such a calm environment and with such friendly colleagues and patients. In her spare time, Sally enjoys yoga, skiing, hiking and walking, jewellery making, and spending time with her two terriers and her friends and loved ones.
