If you prefer to use a computer or smartphone,then we will send you our monthly log sheets in an email and, after you open the attachment, you then record your takings and expenses in the same way as the paper record by entering the data. Both the paper and computer based log sheets are to be returned to us on the 1st of the next month so we can update your books. Your books will therefore be updated on a monthly basis and this can give us a pictute of your overall NET PROFITS for the year and also can inform us of what tax bill you may have if your earnings stay the same. If you are newly self-employed, and not registered with HMRC, we will register you free of charge in order to get your UTR number (every self-employed person needs this). HMRC will then write to you with an authorisation code which you then send to us so we can finalise the application process. We are then your agents and will deal with all aspects of your tax matters, on your behalf, with HMRC. Note: You will still be liable for payment of any Tax or National Insurance by the due date. Step 2: Once you are registered with us you then choose which option of log sheet you wish to use; either the paper or computerised log sheet. (Details of this record keeping on the 'Book Keeping' page). How it Works At the end of each month you post/email us your log sheet. We will update your books every month until the end of the tax year. At the end of the Tax year we will prepare your Self Assessment/Tax Return and advise you if any tax is payable and when it will be due. If you wish, we will send your complete, updated and finalised Statement of Earning and Tax Return to you. Having checked and signed your Tax Return you post/email it back to us and we submit it online to HMRC on your behalf. You then have until the due date to make any payments as may be necessary to HMRC. And it is as simple as that!
