Since then she has worked in several practices across the south of England, developing her passion – helping and empowering women to have positive pregnancy and birth experiences. “Whether a home birth or a C-section, my goal is to support all our mum-to-be’s bodies during this time to promote optimal baby development, a more comfortable pregnancy, birth and recovery post birth”. Following the arrival of their daughter, Melanie returned to practise as a locum, providing high quality Chiropractic care in clinics across Hertfordshire, Berkshire, Surrey, Buckinghamshire and London. She decided to start up Active Family Chiropractic as a mobile Chiropractor around Northants, Oxfordshire and surrounding counties before setting up her own clinic as well. In February 2017, AFC set down roots at the Ashcroft Therapy Centre in Deddington where she thoroughly enjoyed providing Chiropractic care to the local community. “I absolutely love helping clients of all ages improve their quality of life through decreased pain and improved mobility and function. I love educating and inspiring people to understand that well-being isn’t just about symptoms but optimal functioning, which is achieved through the choices we make in our lifestyles.” Melanie’s passion in Chiropractic support during pregnancy and childhood was enhanced by her own personal experiences of family life as she realised just how much of a joy and challenge pregnancy, birthing and parenting can be! This prompted her to undertake lots of post graduate qualifications and training in pregnancy and paediatric care including Webster certification. She now delights in helping children of all ages, working closely with families to optimise their health and potential. When she gets time for herself, Melanie is into running, having completed 2 half marathons and a duathalon, and has now gotten the Triathalon bug – because one sport is just never enough 🙂 “Keeping healthy and active is such an important part of our lives – to use a well known quote: ‘health is a great wealth; It should never be taken for granted, and should always be something we do’.” Livvy Risner, M Chiro, Favourite Associate, Awesome Chiropractor Livvy graduated with a Master of Chiropractic degree from McTimoney College of Chiropractic in Oxford. She has joined the AFC family as our favourite associate and is looking forward to welcoming patients from January 2025, offering McTimoney Chiropractic techniques. Livvy has a special passion for how chiropractic care can benefit athletes in every aspect of their sport from optimising performance to rehabilitative recovery. Having competed in showjumping at the international 2* level with her horses, she experienced first-hand how beneficial chiropractic treatment can be for an athlete’s performance. Livvy will continue her chiropractic education while leaning even further into her passion for animals by completing an MSc in Animal Chiropractic. More info: In her free time, Livvy continues to remain very involved in equestrian sport by volunteering regularly with British Eventing in cross-country control towers at different events throughout the year, and owns a horse with local professional event rider Sarah Gairdner. Sarah and Livvy have high hopes for this youngster. Additionally, Livvy has a mild (self-proclaimed) obsession with board games, and can be found at least a few nights per week down at the town game shop playing various games you’ve never heard of. Also joining the AFC family with Livvy is her assistance dog named Atlas. Atlas is a small black labrador and together the team are members of RAD Assistance Dogs (a Leicester-based charity). Atlas performs a handful of tasks to help Livvy and will be in clinic with Livvy every day, so please feel free to ask any questions you may have. If you have any concerns with Atlas being in the room during your treatment, please let the team know ahead of your appointment and we will do our best to accommodate. Since then she has worked in several practices across the south of England, developing her passion – helping and empowering women to have positive pregnancy and birth experiences. “Whether a home birth or a C-section, my goal is to support all our mum-to-be’s bodies during this time to promote optimal baby development, a more comfortable pregnancy, birth and recovery post birth”. Following the arrival of their daughter, Melanie returned to practise as a locum, providing high quality Chiropractic care in clinics across Hertfordshire, Berkshire, Surrey, Buckinghamshire and London. She decided to start up Active Family Chiropractic as a mobile Chiropractor around Northants, Oxfordshire and surrounding counties before setting up her own clinic as well. In February 2017, AFC set down roots at the Ashcroft Therapy Centre in Deddington where she thoroughly enjoyed providing Chiropractic care to the local community. “I absolutely love helping clients of all ages improve their quality of life through decreased pain and improved mobility and function. She has joined the AFC family as our favourite associate and is looking forward to welcoming patients from January 2025, offering McTimoney Chiropractic techniques. Livvy has a special passion for how chiropractic care can benefit athletes in every aspect of their sport from optimising performance to rehabilitative recovery. Having competed in showjumping at the international 2* level with her horses, she experienced first-hand how beneficial chiropractic treatment can be for an athlete’s performance. Livvy will continue her chiropractic education while leaning even further into her passion for animals by completing an MSc in Animal Chiropractic. More info: In her free time, Livvy continues to remain very involved in equestrian sport by volunteering regularly with British Eventing in cross-country control towers at different events throughout the year, and owns a horse with local professional event rider Sarah Gairdner. Sarah and Livvy have high hopes for this youngster. Additionally, Livvy has a mild (self-proclaimed) obsession with board games, and can be found at least a few nights per week down at the town game shop playing various games you’ve never heard of. Also joining the AFC family with Livvy is her assistance dog named Atlas. Atlas is a small black labrador and together the team are members of RAD Assistance Dogs (a Leicester-based charity). Atlas performs a handful of tasks to help Livvy and will be in clinic with Livvy every day, so please feel free to ask any questions you may have. I used Melanie’s recommended doula and ended up having the natural, drug free birth I wanted, delivering a 10lb11 baby girl with just some gas and air at the end! She was in the perfect position and, along with my hypnobirthing skills, that made the vast majority of my labour perfectly manageable. I would recommend Melanie to anyone wanting to support their body to ‘do its thing’ during pregnancy and birth, it was the best money I spent on pregnancy care and I am so grateful.
