Meet the team Dr Amie Bracey Masters of Chiropractic Dr Amie Bracey is a Doctor of Chiropractic and is registered with the General Chiropractic Council. She is also a member of the British Chiropractic Association and is a Licentiate of The Royal Collage of Chiropractors. Since graduating she has practiced in Preston and Blackburn and now offers her services as a Blackpool based Chiropractor. Her specialist interest within chiropractic is the treatment of pregnant ladies, babies and children. She has supported the Straighten Up Campaign across the local primary schools, teaching the pupils about posture and can also often be found talking at mother and baby fairs across the Fylde Coast. Dr Roberta McGoldrick Masters of Chiropractic Dr Roberta McGoldrick is a Doctor of Chiropractic and is registered with the General Chiropractic Council. She is also a member of the United Chiropractic Association. She discovered Chiropractic at the age of thirteen and has been on the fun and exciting chiropractic roller coaster ever since. Following a sporting injury, chiropractic helped her to return back to all of her sporting activity and remain well, this is when she knew it was something she was passionate about and wanted to help others in a similar situation. She loves to see her patients regain their function, restore the spark and joy they get from being able to do all the things that make life fun and enjoyable. When she is away from the clinic she enjoys riding and competing horses, going to the gym and keeping fit. A big part of her life is spent with her family, including her nieces and nephews. Dr Luke Monaghan Masters of Chiropractic Dr Luke is a graduate of the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic and a registered chiropractor with the General Chiropractic Council and also a member of the British Chiropractic Association. Outside of chiropractic, Dr Luke is a keen sportsman, who regularly plays both rugby union & rugby league for whom he represented Ireland at u19s. A regular for Southport rugby club who will be involved heavily with their community rugby injury management (CRISP). During the summer months he participates in water sports and both mountain & road cycling. Dr Luke has gained a wide variety of experience treating conditions through working with patients from many backgrounds including extreme sport athletes & runners. Dr Luke has gained a vast background knowledge and understanding from his father, who has practised as a physiotherapist for many years. Dr Luke is passionate about each patient being treated as an individual in a manner they feel comfortable to achieve their goals for treatment. Louisa Thornhill Sports Therapist Louisa is our in house Sports Therapist! Blackpool born and bred, Louisa has always been involved in sports since a young age. She has competed in hockey at country level and has always led a very active lifestyle! Over her career she has worked in football (up to a semi-professional level), netball, Blackburn Rovers LFC, helped at the London Marathon and in private clinics. Commonly understood as excruciating pain running down the back of one leg caused by a trapping of the sciatic nerve often accompanied by numbness, pins and needles or weakness in that leg or foot. It is horrible! The pain often feels much worse with prolonged sitting and feels better once up and gently moving round. The sciatic nerve is the longest and widest nerve in the human body. The nerve begins in the low back and runs all the way down the leg into the foot. It can get trapped at numerous places on the way down but the most common place is in the low back as the spinal nerves exit the spine. Here a disc may herniate or ‘slip’ causing pinching of the nerve and causing the onset of pain. It doesn’t have to be a big traumatic incident or fall for this to happen. At your initial consultation an in-depth history will be taken, this will include a history of your complaint and well as information on your health and well-being so we can get the best idea of what is causing your pain. Next a full chiropractic and medical examination will take place. This will include looking at your posture, examining your movement and palpating the joints and muscles. Neurological and orthopedic tests will be conducted such as recording reflexes and any medical examinations needed such as blood pressure or auscultation of the heart and lungs. Once the cause of your pain can be pin pointed the Chiropractor will explain to you why you have been experiencing your symptoms and what sort of treatment you need. If there is a need for further investigations such as x-rays you will be referred to a local clinic for these to be taken. Treatment often starts at the very first visit. On your first Treatment? Most commonly your first chiropractic treatment will composes of safe, often gentle, specific spinal manipulation to the stiff and restricted areas of the spine. This increases movement in the area and reduces irritation of the joints, which in turn increases functionality. This manipulation is done with the chiropractors hands. Once the mobility of the joints has been restored the chiropractor will often treat the surrounding musculature with a number of different soft tissue modalities such as ‘pressure points’, ‘sports massage’ and ‘active stretches’. Advise on using ICE or HEAT will often be given and along with postural advise. On follow up treatments? Similar treatment of spinal manipulation and soft tissue work will occur at follow up appointments. The chiropractor will likely start you with some stretches and strengthen exercises at this point and will slowly build on them until you reach your end goal. How long will the sessions last? The intial consultation itself will last approximately 45minutes but expect to be in the clinic for 1 hour. Treatments will typically last 15minutes but expect to be in the clinic for 30 minutes. Will it hurt? Spinal manipulation should not be painful. Chiropractic is a primary health care profession, which focuses on diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the neuromusculoskeletal system (nerves, muscles and bones). Meet the team Dr Amie Bracey Masters of Chiropractic Dr Amie Bracey is a Doctor of Chiropractic and is registered with the General Chiropractic Council. She is also a member of the British Chiropractic Association and is a Licentiate of The Royal Collage of Chiropractors. Since graduating she has practiced in Preston and Blackburn and now offers her services as a Blackpool based Chiropractor. Her specialist interest within chiropractic is the treatment of pregnant ladies, babies and children. She has supported the Straighten Up Campaign across the local primary schools, teaching the pupils about posture and can also often be found talking at mother and baby fairs across the Fylde Coast. Dr Roberta McGoldrick Masters of Chiropractic Dr Roberta McGoldrick is a Doctor of Chiropractic and is registered with the General Chiropractic Council. She is also a member of the United Chiropractic Association. She discovered Chiropractic at the age of thirteen and has been on the fun and exciting chiropractic roller coaster ever since. Following a sporting injury, chiropractic helped her to return back to all of her sporting activity and remain well, this is when she knew it was something she was passionate about and wanted to help others in a similar situation. She loves to see her patients regain their function, restore the spark and joy they get from being able to do all the things that make life fun and enjoyable. When she is away from the clinic she enjoys riding and competing horses, going to the gym and keeping fit. A big part of her life is spent with her family, including her nieces and nephews. Dr Luke Monaghan Masters of Chiropractic Dr Luke is a graduate of the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic and a registered chiropractor with the General Chiropractic Council and also a member of the British Chiropractic Association. Outside of chiropractic, Dr Luke is a keen sportsman, who regularly plays both rugby union & rugby league for whom he represented Ireland at u19s. A regular for Southport rugby club who will be involved heavily with their community rugby injury management (CRISP). During the summer months he participates in water sports and both mountain & road cycling. Dr Luke has gained a wide variety of experience treating conditions through working with patients from many backgrounds including extreme sport athletes & runners. Dr Luke has gained a vast background knowledge and understanding from his father, who has practised as a physiotherapist for many years. Louisa Thornhill Sports Therapist Louisa is our in house Sports Therapist! Blackpool born and bred, Louisa has always been involved in sports since a young age. She has competed in hockey at country level and has always led a very active lifestyle!
